Sacrament of Baptism

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." - Matthew 28:19-20

Welcome parents, future parents, and godparents to Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Congratulations on starting, the first stage of your child's initiation into the Catholic community!         

1. Starting the process: Review the Baptism Package linked under the Required Documents for needed documents and start gathering them. We invite you to join the Catholic Church community by attending weekend masses, participating in ministries, and sharing your time and gifts as volunteers. Please note, that baptisms occur in group settings on Saturdays at 10:00 am; private baptisms are not offered. We require a completed Baptism Package before any scheduling.
2. Baptism Classes: Parents and godparents must attend baptism classes provided by the parish or at a parish of their choice. Classes are offered in-person or by Zoom. (Zoom links will be sent out a week prior to the class). Classes are held via Zoom at 7:00 pm every last Monday of the month in English and the second Tuesday of the month in Spanish at 7:00 pm in person at the church. Due to limited space and resources, we will give priority to Holy Trinity parishioners or parents/godparents of a baptism taking place at Holy Trinity. 3. Birth Certificate:  We ask you to bring the State Issued Birth Certificate. San Antonio's Birth Certificates are given at the San Antonio Metropolitan District Health Office during the week (210)207-8815. Certificates issued by the Hospital cannot be used.      
4. The Godparents: According to the Canon Law of the Catholic Church (872-874), only one godfather/godmother is required. He/She must be a fully initiated Catholic (has completed Baptism, First Communion, & Confirmation Sacraments). Must be at least 16 years of age, and be an active member of the church. If married, he/she must be married in the Catholic Church.        

If two godparents are chosen, one must be male, and the other must be female. Ideally, both should be Catholics; however, it is possible that one is not Catholic but must be baptized in the Christian faith. Baptized non-Catholic Christians will be listed as Christian Witnesses and not as godparents on the baptismal form. A parent or guardian cannot serve as the godfather/godmother of the child to be baptized.

¡Bienvenidos padres, futuros padres y padrinos a la Iglesia Católica de la Santísima Trinidad. ¡Felicidades por iniciar la primera etapa de la iniciación de su hijo/a en la comunidad católica!

1. Comenzando el Proceso: Revise el Paquete de Bautismo vinculado bajo Documentos Necesarios para obtener los documentos necesarios y comience a juntarlos. Les invitamos a unirse a la comunidad de la Iglesia Católica asistiendo a las misas de fin de semana, participando en ministerios y compartiendo su tiempo y dones como voluntarios. Por favor, tengan en cuenta que los bautismos se realizan en grupos los sábados a las 10:00 am; no se ofrecen bautismos privados. Requerimos el Paquete de Bautismo completo antes de cualquier programación.

2. Clases de Bautismo: Los padres y padrinos deben asistir a las clases de bautismo proporcionadas por la parroquia o en una parroquia de su elección. Las clases se ofrecen de forma presencial o por zoom. Para registrarse en las Clases de Bautismo de la Santísima Trinidad, hagan clic aquí. Las clases se llevan a cabo por zoom a las 7:00 pm el último lunes de cada mes en inglés y el segundo martes de cada mes en español a las 7:00 pm de manera presencial en la iglesia. Debido al espacio y los recursos limitados, daremos prioridad a los feligreses de la Santísima Trinidad o a los padres/padrinos de un bautismo que tenga lugar en la Santísima Trinidad.

3. Certificado de Nacimiento: Les pedimos que traigan el Certificado de Nacimiento emitido por el Estado. Los Certificados de Nacimiento de San Antonio se obtienen en la Oficina de Salud del Distrito Metropolitano de San Antonio durante la semana al (210) 207-8815. Los certificados emitidos por el hospital no pueden ser utilizados.

Si se eligen dos padrinos, uno debe ser hombre y el otro mujer. Idealmente, ambos deben ser católicos; sin embargo, es posible que uno no sea católico pero debe estar bautizado en la fe cristiana. Los cristianos no católicos bautizados se mencionarán como Testigos Cristianos y no como padrinos en el formulario de bautismo. Un padre o tutor no puede ser el padrino del niño/a que será bautizado.
