If you missed last week's meeting, you didn't get a chance to enjoy the encore of BBQ chicken served up by our Worthy Smokey Bro
David Kiolbassa. I hope his assessment is not truth, that we hold back from selling all the chicken we can in the hopes that we'll have the leftovers at the Council meeting! But dang, it's yummy stuff. One thing is for sure, Council 9967 is very spoiled. If you have not heard, the Council lost one of its Charter members, LTC William T. Johnson. Please refer to his memorium at

I want to congratulate our superlatives from August: Knight of the Month Dan Duet. As many others did in August, Brother Dan obtained his 4th Degree in August. Beyond that however, in his 2:12 Ministries he never shies away from representing his Knighthood to others. His desire to lead others closer to Christ is a great example of Unity and despite how busy he is he finds time to donate his time to help the success of our Chicken BBQ and Taco Sunday, both great demonstrations of Charity and Fraternity. As I said at the meeting, Brother Dan, keep doing what you're doing!
Family of the Month:
Tony and Lucy Miller. Last month, it was mentioned how our quadruple somersault BASE jumping Brother Tony was awarded Knight of the Month. Well, Brother Tony has not yet landed, but this time pulling his Lady in with him. Recently, Brother Tony and Lucy were invited to be members of the Core Team for Covenant of Love. It also didn't hurt that Brother Tony accepted the invitation to become the Council's next Financial Secretary. Brother Tony, you keep doing what you're doing too!
Regarding the position of Financial Secretary, Brother Estevan Munoz has resigned due to personal reasons. I would be remiss if I did not point out that Brother Steve was responsible for the recipes of our lunch tacos. If you haven't tried them, you're missing out for sure! Willing to walk steps in other's shoes and willing to offer up his shirt, I can?t think of anyone who most fervently lives the first principal of our Order, Charity, like Steve. Brother Steve, thank you for all you have done, and may God always bless you.
I invite you all to refer to
http://kofcknights.org/CouncilSite/index.asp?CNO=9967. We now have our Calendar on-line. And the Calendar can put you in contact with the Event Chairman, facilitating your desire to sign up. There is also the opportunity for you to add prayer requests. We are very much in the infancy for utilizing this tool, but it seems very capable for supporting and improving our Council's communications.
Having said that, you will be able to find more information on the following, but here are key dates over the next weeks until we meet again in October.
Family Picnic, Saturday 9/13. Brother
Michael Bunting (
[email protected]) has taken the helm again to coordinate our annual Family Picnic. It might be a little wet Saturday, but that won't stop the fun!! The tradition of fajitas and fixin's continue. And bring $10 to enter the annual Texas Hold'em tournament. Cooking time starts at 3:00 PM. The picnic itself starts at 6:00 PM and will go until 10:00PM. Of course, bring the kids!
Hosting Chapter Meeting, Wednesday 9/17. Our Worthy Deputy Grand Knight
John Shea (
[email protected]) is coordinating help in hosting the Chapter Meeting. This is when all the Councils from San Antonio, or at least a representative from each Council, comes to Holy Trinity for its monthly meeting. A meal will be provided by our Worthy Smokey Bro. We could use help cooking and and other tasks that evening.
Monthly Taco, Sunday 9/28
Scouts' Spaghetti Dinner. We have this on the calendar as of 10/4 and 10/5. There is a potential that this moves from that date, so stay tuned.
Again, I encourage everyone to visit the new Council website. I believe that it will be a great way for us to stay connected.
