PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS The following are highlights from the September 8, 2014 PPC meeting
Council Member Present: Fr. Oscar Tello-Curiel, Deacon Oscar, John Ly, Will Person, Tricia Heck, John Kiernan, Lourdes Correa, Noelia Otero, Juan Martinez, John Shea, Martha Rodriguez & Cathy Scanlon.
Council Member Not Present: Msgr. Mike Yarbrough, Luis Jimenez, Yvonne DeLeon
Gathering Prayer: Martha Rodriguez
Approval of August PPC Meeting Minutes: John Shea moved to approve minutes. Minutes were approved.
Old Business
Church Expansion Updates: Council members agreed that a subcommittee should be formed to gather input. Juan Martinez will take the lead of the subcommittee, along with Noelia Otero, John Ly and Tricia Heck. The subcommittee will also invite members outside the PPC to be involved.
Ministry Evaluation: Lourdes Correa reported on the Knights of Columbus, Habitat for Humanity and Prayer Shawl Ministry. The ministries are providing a much needed service to our community. Discussion on the continuation of these evaluations was discussed. Juan Martinez will update Msgr. Mike. Luis Jimenez and Juan Martinez to report on their assigned ministries in October.
Couple Shared Prayer Ministry: The Core team will report to the PPC this fall. The By Laws must be followed. All team members must be practicing Catholics in good standing. NO EXEMPTIONS!
Mass Readings & Gospel: Msgr. Mike has increased the order from the ?The Word Among Us? in Spanish & English.
PPC Web Page: Eric Mejia updated the web page.
PPC By-Laws: PPC members were provided with a copy of the by-laws. PPC members will review and present updates at the next meeting.
Banquet Hall: Deacon Oscar to review policy on use, condition and expectations for any damage to the banquet hall and report next month.
New Evangelization: Dr. Antonio Ramirez to report at a later date.
New Business:
Blessed Mother: Light over Blessed Mother has been out for a while. Equipment is needed to change light bulbs thus is done semiannually.
Entrance Procedures for Banquet Hall: Due to security concerns access to the 1st floor from the banquet hall is restricted. Discussion was held on possible solutions. John Ly, Will Pearson and Deacon Oscar will look into possible solutions and report to the PPC.
Drop Box: It was suggested to have a drop box located by the main office to leave items when the office is closed. Cathy Scalon to follow up.
Father Oscar:
Archbishop Gomez has requested that all parishes take weekly Mass attendance for a period of one year, beginning October 2014.
New RCIA Coordinator: Desma Delgado has been hired. Welcome Desma to Holy Trinity!
Seminaries: Holy Trinity has been assigned two seminaries, Nicolas Nañez and James Russell for the school semester of fall and spring. They will primarily work with RCIA for Children, Adult Confirmation and Life Teen and assist as needed throughout the parish. We are excited to host Nicolas and James!
Advent Mission: Holy Trinity will host an English Mission on December 15 and 16. A Spanish Mission will be hosted on December 17 and 18. Our speaker will be Bishop Michael Pfeiffer, bishop emeritus of the Diocese of San Angelo, TX
David Kaufman Concert: Holy Trinity will host David Kaufman in January. Parish Council will discuss cost involved in October.
Archbishop?s Appeal: Discussion on the amount designated for Holy Trinity was discussed.
Priest: Father Oscar reported that Msgr. Mike would like to partially support the salary of a priest for a parish that may need the assistance.
