Everyone Invited to Eucharistic Procession to Celebrate Solemnity of the Most Precious Body and Blood of Christ
The Solemnity of the Most Precious Body and Blood of Christ is approaching, and we at Holy Trinity wish to shower heaven with praise and thanksgiving for our Lord Jesus Christ in the form of the Blessed Sacrament by participating in our third annual Eucharistic procession. The entire parish in invited to take part in this beautiful ceremony. We will begin with a short time of adoration of the Eucharist following the 5:30 p.m. Mass on Sunday, June 2, with the procession beginning thereafter. Musicians will lead us around the grounds of Holy Trinity, stopping at three stations. Life Teen will lead prayers and singing at the first altar to honor "God the Father." The Knights of Columbus will provide leadership at the second altar honoring "God the Son," and the adoration committee will lead praise of "God the Holy Spirit" when we arrive back in the church. Fr. Martin will bless those present with the Eucharist (benediction) and then repose the Eucharist
to conclude the service.
Eucharistic processions will be held in parishes all over the world on this day, in accordance with the teachings of the church. "The feast of the Blessed Sacrament was established in 1246 by Bishop Robert de Thorte of Liege at the suggestion of St. Juliana of Mont Carvillon. [It was] extended to the universal Church by Pope Urban in 1264. The office composed by St.
Thomas Aquinas and customary procession was approved by Popes Martin V and Eugene IV. Celebrated in June, the first Sunday after the feast of the Trinity." (Modern Catholic Dictionary, by John A. Hardon, S.J.)
