In 2002 a small group of senior parishioners gathered for an informal meeting to form a Holy Trinity senior group. The purpose of the group was to create fellowship and friendship and to share each other‘s company through prayer and scripture readings. This occasion provides the senior citizens an opportunity to dress up, get out of the house and meet other parishioners of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Soon after that, it was decided to name the group of seniors "Forever Young." It was in 2005 that this group of senior parishioners was recognized as a senior citizen ministry group.
Forever Young senior group meets once a month starting in September (except December) and finishes the year in May.
This group is scheduled to meet at the Faith Formation Center on the 3rd Tuesday of the month starting at 11:30AM. The group plans a different menu of homemade dishes which are prepared by each other and follow a different theme for each month. The after lunch activities include bingo, bridge, dominos and a raffle of few door prizes. The Forever Young are invited by Independence Hill to a free lunch usually in the month of March.
Once a year the group visits old and historic churches in San Antonio and in the surrounding areas and have a fun filled lunch elsewhere other than at their regular meeting place at Holy Trinity. This year‘s plans are to visit one or two of the San Antonio Missions along with a stop at the SAS Shoe Warehouse for a short visit and shopping.
Forever Young is lead by Lina Ramirez, Mary Friesenhahn, Sidney Flanagan, Dora Lee, Dave & Lydia Porter and Regina Warren. Anyone interested in joining the Forever Young may call Lina Ramirez at 210-481-3294 or by e-mail at email@example.com.
