Mae's Bio
After many years, Mae Wannarka has recently returned to San Antonio. Mae and her family remember meeting for mass at the Alzafar Shrine and then having the joy of walking into the first mass here at Holy Trinity. Mae was director of music liturgy at Holy Trinity for about 8 years mentored by then Father Fater. She was recently the Director of Music for 12 years at St. Mary's Parish in Waverly, Minnesota, directing the choir and playing piano and organ for three masses each weekend, holy days, weddings, funerals, and special masses as needed. She started playing for church when she was 12 and was raised to believe that participating in the song of the mass was not optional! Mae has a Bachelors of Science degree in English and Speech Education from the University of Minnesota and a Masters of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Purdue University. She taught high school juniors for three years and is a United States Navy Veteran. Mae has 5 children and 4 grandchildren. Although retired from a life of music ministry, Mae now plays the piano as needed and enjoys singing in the choir here at Holy Trinity.
Sarah's Bio
As long as she can remember, Sarah has sung at church. Her mother Mae, and both of her grandmothers, Mildred and Florence, all played the piano in church. Her father, Jerry, has always sang in the church choir. So, she comes by it honestly. Sarah was a member of the Purduettes while attending college at Purdue University. The Purduettes are an elite singing group who travel the country performing. Sarah is delighted to sing at Holy Trinity when the need arises.
There is nothing in the world so much like prayer as music is. ~William P. Merrill
