The following report is from the Minutes of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church Finance Council for June 30, 2014. The Finance Council met on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 7 p.m. In attendance were Vicki Weynand, Deacon Oscar Perez, David Kiolbassa, Eric Zeitler, Cecilia Greene, Gonzalo Bautista and Msgr. Mike Yarbrough. Absent was Maria Noli Childs.
This meeting was a second meeting to continue the review of the 2014/2015 budget.
1. Cecilia handed out a budget explanation worksheet which explained how she came up with each amount on the proposed budget. The council spent several minutes reviewing this worksheet and Cecilia addressed any questions. She encouraged any council member to contact her if they had any questions.
2. The council then received a copy of the Board Confidentiality Statement and Board Member Agreement which each board member, except for Maria, signed and returned to Cecilia. These agreements spell out the responsibilities of a finance council member and remind them that what is discussed in these meetings is confidential.
3. Cecilia then reviewed with the council the property insurance valuation and explained how the values were attained. The values are based on an appraisal done by McNeel, Weissler and Associates, Inc. Vicki agreed to contact them about how they determined several of the values.
4. The council then went over the list of capital items requested by the facilities managers for inclusion in the upcoming budget. John Dulske was then asked to join the meeting to answer some specific questions about several of these requests. The finance council then informed Cecilia which items to include in the budget. The council approved the budget subject to the changes discussed.
5. Msgr. Mike then told the council of the three new employees hired by the parish. We now have two additional full time youth ministers and another maintenance man.
6. The council was reminded that the next meeting date had already been set for August 13th at 12:30 pm. Deacon Oscar closed the meeting with a prayer.
