· Opening Prayer: Kristin led the Staff in an opening prayer.
· New Staff Member: We welcomed George Weynand to our staff meeting, his first.
· Craig: He offered thanks to the Staff as this is his last meeting with us before his retirement.
· Cecilia: She offered a handout in regards to some of the changes in our taxes. The handout was
entitled, “What You Need to Know About the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012.” …Social Security taxes will be going up from 4.2% back to 6.2%...Our individual W-2 forms are to mailed from paycom.
· John: Any repair requests need to be sent to John first, not Joaquin. That way, we can prioritize
which needs addressing first. Joaquin’s responsibilities have increased dramatically. We can be more effective with this process. Emergencies are of course exempted.
· Kristin:Sacramental Preparation – We have 199 children celebrated the sacrament of
Penance for the first time during the Advent and Christmas seasons. We still have ten (10) who have yet to do so…The next parent/child workshop for children preparing to celebrate the sacrament of Eucharist will be held on January 28th / 30th during regular class times in the Gathering Area. There are 208 children preparing to receive Eucharist for the first time. Who will celebrate the Slow Motion Mass on Saturday, March 2 at 9AM? [Msgr. Mike] Who will celebrate the First Eucharist Mass on Saturday, April 13 at 11AM? [Msgr. Mike]. These two masses were not listed on the priest’s calendar…Current Enrollment – We currently have 781 elementary students and 92 catechists…MLK Holiday – There will be no Faith Formation classes on January 21st and 23rd and the Faith Formation Office will be closed on Monday, January 21st in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. We follow NEISD schedule…Meetings/Continuing Education – Kristin and Eric attended the Northeast/North Central Deanery meeting on Tuesday, January 8th at St. Padre Pio. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, February 12th at St. Pius X from 11:30AM until 2PM…We will be attending the Mid-Winter Gathering on Thursday, February 21st at St. Luke from 8:30AM until 4PM…Kristin will be taking a Level II course at St. Peter in Boerne on Thursday evenings beginning this week and running through the middle of February…FF Building – Several items here: (a) The new sound system, projector and screen have been installed in the Gathering Area. Staff has been trained on how to use it; b) A parishioner donated a large screen TV for the Gathering Area as well. It is currently in the St. Elizabeth room, but needs to be moved to the Gathering Area as soon as possible; (c) We are still waiting for the new sink, dishwasher and oven to be installed…what is the estimated time on this project? [Should be installed via Lowe’s sometime this coming week.]
· Ana Rosa: The current registered number of households for Holy Trinity is 1, 926. She raised a
question about borrowing items from the church, especially items located in the chapel. Msgr. Mike said that there is NO BORROWING of items. This is NOT allowed.
· Lucy: She reminded Staff that there is a Liturgy Committee meeting on Wednesday, January 23rd
at 7PM in the Conference Room. This is for the preparation for the Lenten and Easter seasons…She wondered about a concert by David Kaufmann coming to Holy Trinity. The suggested date was March 15th at 7PM. That is the Friday before our Parish Mission. There is a minimum charge to the parish [$500} but a love offering and CD sale is expected. [Msgr. Mike postponed this until the Fall 2013].
· Doug: He wondered about having a donation box placed in the church. Some people after the
Masses wish to make a donation to the parish. It was recommended that they either give the donation to the priest, the deacon or himself or they come to the Parish Offices to make the donation. The concern is theft and the value of placing such an item in the church.
· Renee: She reported that some of the High School boys were on retreat this past week at Deer
Creek. There were about twenty (20) boys with six (6) men accompanying them…Middle School retreat will be from February 22-24th at Tecaboca. This is for 7th & 8th graders. ..There will be a sixth grade Lock-In scheduled for Friday, March 8th, and this will take place in the Tyler M. Peltier Gathering Area in the FF Building. It starts at 6PM and end at 7AM on Saturday. The High School teens coordinate this…There are five (5) spots left for the summer camp opportunity…There are zero (0) spots left for the High School summer camps…There is a Mission Week in Tepeyac AZ. Dates were not shared.
· Eric: He spoke about the Young Adult Ministry. Upcoming Events – Young Adult Community
(YAC) General Meeting – Sunday, January 20th at Holy Trinity @ 2:30pm…The Lion King on Stage – Sunday, January 27th in Austin, TX @ 6:30pm…Upcoming Meetings – He will be attending the Youth Ministry/Young Adult Deanery Meeting at St. John Neumann on Monday, January 14th @ 11:30am…He will also be attending the Archdiocesan Young Adult Ambassador Meeting on Friday, January 18th at San Antonio College @ 6:30pm…Young Adult Retreat – The Young Adult Leadership Retreat held back in November was a great success, and he received a lot of positive feedback from those who attended. Since the retreat, our core team has grown from 4 to 9 members currently (Holy Trinity: 3 representatives, St. Mark: 4 representatives; Padre Pio: 2 representatives). Reservations have been made at HEB Camp to have our next retreat in the summer. We are expecting thirty (30). (Dates: July 11-14, 2013)…The 2012 retreat was over Thanksgiving weekend. We had eleven (11) attend this first retreat.
· Lizzette: She commented that she appreciated the Christmas Mass schedule. There was
enough separation in the mass times that helped prevents problems with parking and getting into the Church itself…One negative was that the Ladies’ Bathroom was atrocious.
· George: He encouraged us to consider being more vigilant with recycling. The concern for
placing additional containers besides what we already have is their timely being emptied and the odor that could take place.
· Gloria: She reminded the staff that we are going to a new envelope company beginning in
February 2013. We should see a decrease in the cost...Robert Galvan has a book on the Our Lady of Guadalupe celebration for sale. See her for more information.
· Closing Prayer: Renee closed our meeting with a prayer.
· Next Meeting: Due to Lent coming early this year, we are changing the day of the week from
Wednesday to Friday, Friday, February 8th, 10AM-12PM, KC Room
· February Opening Prayer: Eric
· February Closing Prayer: Veronica
