Present: Msgr. Mike Yarbrough, Fr. Martin Garcia, Joaquin B. Martinez, Ana Rosa Lane, Gloria
Barretto, Craig Koett, Rosa Becnel, John Dulske, Sherry Drury, Cecilia Greene, Doug Stolo, Debbie Gray, Lizzette Kranz, Veronica Santillan,
Excused: Martha Sandoval, Kristin Casas, Eric Mejia
Opening Prayer: Msgr. Mike led the staff in the Staff Vision Statement.
Introduction: The newest member of the staff, Veronica Santillan, introduced herself.
Msgr. Mike: Due to the fact that he had the 12:05PM Mass that day, he reported first.
Holy Sepulchre: The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem is a lay institution of the Roman Catholic Church and is a papal order – one that has a unique pontifical status, placing it under the Holy Father. The Southwest Lieutenancy will hold their annual Mass here at HT on Tuesday, September 27
th at 5:30PM.
9/11: We will have handouts commemorating this event in our history. Also, we have thirty (30) names that lost their lives that day from the Twin Towers, Pennsylvania or the Pentagon. Five (5) names will be honored at each of the six (6) Masses this weekend. A commemorate card will also be handed out at each of the Masses for this memorial.
Confirmation: We have three (3) tentative dates that have been requested. The AB has indicated that he hopes to have them finalized by the end of the year. Also, if we have a large group, we should have two (2) celebrations. Last year, with a 120 confirmandi, the ceremony was too long. Tentative dates are April 28
th, May 19
th or June 9
th. All are on Saturday at 11AM.
Pictorial Directory: Gloria reported that PPC, under the direction of Sheila Rosario, is setting this up. The dates are January 31-February 4; February 7-11; and February 14-18. Times for Tuesday – Thursday is 2PM-8:30PM; Fridays are 12:30PM-7:30PM; and Saturday is 9:30AM-4:30PM. This is being done through Lifetouch. Picture taking will be done in the Church in either the Nursery or the Angel Room. More information for the future.
Assisted Hearing: John accented that we are in the process of purchasing a system from San Fernando Cathedral. We may have to purchase additional receivers. The strong suggestion is that those who need them purchase them. Lending them out doesn’t work. They have a way of disappearing and when you need them they are gone! More details in the future.
Missionary Cooperative Plan: Msgr. Mike informed the Staff that
Sr. Felicia Agibi, HHCJ, a Handmaid of the Holy Child of Jesus, is to speak at all the Masses the weekend of September 10-11
th. The collection will be taken up after communion. All Archdiocesan parishes participate in this sharing of a weekend for missionaries throughout the world.
Couple Shared Prayer: Couples will be speaking for two ((2) minutes after each of the Masses this weekend, September 10-11
th, inviting married couples from HT to participate. The weekend is October 21-23
rd, with a return Mass scheduled for the 11:15AM on 23 October. It is being held at Cordi-Marian Retreat Center. Limit is twenty-five (25) married couples, with HT parishioners being given the priority.
Implementation of 3rd Edition of the Roman Missal: We have purchased 4K cards to be used for the changes in the language, which is to begin the First Sunday of Advent. The US church has been given permission to begin some of the changes prior to that date, especially the Holy, Holy and the Gloria. Since we don’t sing the Gloria during Advent, the practice will be readying us for Christmas and its season. We will also have a change in the Fraction Rite (Lamb of God) as well. Veronica will bring copies of the cards to our next Staff Meeting in October.
Census Update: We are beginning our first parish census since the inception of the parish in 1987. We will have four (4) mail outs, one per month, whereby the letter of the last name will be sent out. We will start with the beginning of the alphabet and work our way through the end. A follow-up letter in January to those who have not responded will conclude the census update. Head of Household and Family Names who register will be printed in the bulletin. If you don’t see your name, then you are not a registered parishioner of Holy Trinity.
Books for Advent: Family books will be purchased for distribution to HT families as a supplement for the Advent Season. These are at no cost to the parishioners. We do have two other publications for sale from Magnificat Publishers. One accents a supplement for the Gospel of Mark which begins the First Sunday of Advent. The other accents some of the language changes from the 3
rd Edition of the Roman Missal. The former is $5 and the latter is $2.
