Stephen Ministry is a distinctively Christian ministry providing one-to-one encouragement for people in need. Through these caring relationships, Stephen Ministers, in love and care, reach out to those who are hurting and in need of support during difficult circumstances.Stephen Ministers are trained to deal with people who feel:
Life is more than I can handle alone right now.
My health, attitude and relationships are suffering.
I never thought I'd be going through something like this.
The Holy Spirit has given each of us gifts to use for His glory. Being a confidential caregiver may be a way you can offer His guidance to people who are suffering.

How are Stephen Ministers Trained?
To prepare for their care giving work. Stephen Ministers receive approximately 50 hours of training. Course work is based on solid biblical teaching and the best tools of the health and psychological sciences. Training topics are really "Practical Theology." Some of the topics are: The Art of Listening, Prayer, Foundations of Christian Care-giving, Confidentiality, Ministry to Dying, Depressed, Grieving, and Divorced.
Throughout their service, Stephen Ministers receive continuing education in a variety of related subjects.
They also meet regularly with their Stephen Ministry Leaders for guidance and supervision.
